Oracle SQL

SQL or Structured Query Language is a non-procedural language developed by IBM in the 70s. SQL is inherently used for creating simple yet powerful architectures to access and manipulate data and structures in a database. SQL comprises of three separate data expressions; data definition languages, data manipulation languages and data control languages. Data defining languages are used to create, alter, drop, truncate and grant access to database objects and their structure. DML is used for selecting, inserting, updating and deleting data from the structure of the database and DCL is used for various controlling operations such as commit, savepoint, rollback, set transaction etc.

Oracle SQL has a powerful environment and platform provided by Oracle for the development of highly interactive and effective databases. It is an integrated development environment which allows the user to work with SQL in the Oracle database and uses the Java Development Kit which can also integrate the PL or procedural language extension of SQL. The Oracle IDE can work with all the oracle products and a number of third party plug-ins which the user may found useful to deploy. With oracle SQL IDE you have the ability and support of automatic tabs, code insights, bracket matching and syntax coloring for PL/SQL. The procedural language extension of SQL in the relational database provides immense abilities and flexibility in creating powerful relational databases.

Using Oracle PL/SQL you can start off by with the basics of data manipulation including how to retrieve and move data and also perform advanced tasks such as creating tables, functions, procedures, triggers, table spaces and schemas.
