PLC or programmable logic control is essentially a digital computer which has been programmed and industrialized to be used for rugged work in manufacturing processes such as assembly lines, robotic devices or any other process which requires high level of control and flexibility of programming. Programmable logic controllers can be programmed and reprogrammed as per the process’s requirement and needs. PLC can be termed as hard and real tie system which has feedback control. The output is dependent on the input and is created in response to the input conditions with real time feedback control. The domain of PLC consists of both hardware and software systems. The hardware consists of relays, cam timers, drum sequencers, dedicated closed loop controllers and much more. The software consists of the programmed instructions written on the controller devices governing the hardware. Advanced PLC domain consists of the various advanced features of programmable logic controllers such as advanced instructions sets, registers, data manipulation, subroutines, arithmetic, analog functions, P, PI and PID controllers, etc. Additionally, advanced programming skills and algorithm development, networking techniques and interfacing techniques with industrial processes and systems are included in this domain.
